Quick start with Octomat. How to add the Telegram bot and subscribe to your first feed.

1. Add Octomat Telegram bot #

Click the button above to open the Octomat bot in Telegram. You may need to give your browser permission to open the app, or install Telegram first if you don’t have it.

2. Subscribe to your first feed #

Let’s subscribe to news from the Octomat website. Just paste the link to the Octomat site to the chat with the Octomat bot:

https://octomat.io/news/

Octomat will find the link to the RSS feed on the page and subscribe you to it automatically. The latest 5 posts from the feed will be loaded and displayed in the chat.

You can try doing it with other sites and pages that you want to follow.

3. Add more feeds #

There are several ways to find new feeds. Apart from auto-discovery feature, you can try finding RSS and Atom feeds manually. You can find a list of examples on our Discovery page. Copy the URL of the RSS or Atom feed. Then just paste the link to the Octomat.io Bot chat. That’s it!

When adding feeds in groups you add Octomat.io Bot to, just pasting a link unfortuantely is not enough. You need to use the /sub command:

/sub FEED_URL

where FEED_URL is the URL you copied in the previous step.

Keep going and add more feeds!
